Charged in 1616 by the Earls of Pembroke and Montgomery to edit the First Folio of Shakespeare plays, writer Ben Johnson races against time to find the missing manuscript by seeking out his former nemesis, the bedridden William Shaxper. But far more worrisome is that the Earl of Oxford 's daughter, the Countess of Montgomery, wants the Folio published as a memorial to her dead father. Could Lord Oxford 's darkest secrets threaten the throne of King James and change the course of England's history?

“The writing is adept, and the narrative is compelling . . . Shakespeare’s Changeling is historical fiction at its finest.”

“Kline keeps the pages turning . . . the result is a thoroughly researched, convincing interpretation of one of the major theories of Shakespeare authorship that is likely to keep readers engaged.”
